"GameBox 1.0"

EDITOR

This ambitious science fiction/fantasy film presented many interesting challenges in the editing room.

"GameBox" was shot primarily against a green screen, so the actors could be placed into artificial environments during post-production. But my main objective on the picture was not technical, it was creative: how to tell a complex virtual-reality story (several years before "Avatar"), where the main character uses a mysterious headset to enter a virtual world -- and finds computer-created versions of not only his dead girlfriend, but the cop who accidentally shot her.

My goal was to try to tell this story clearly, while making the main characters as sympathetic as possible, so that anyone -- regardless of their knowledge of virtual reality or video games -- could understand and enjoy it.
